Default Sold!! 1975 D-18 Kimseyfied w/ OHSC

Sold!!! Selling my 1975 D-18. Comes with its (assumed) original blue Martin case. The previous owner had it worked on by Bryan Kimsey. It is a wonderful-sounding guitar and plays as well as it sounds. Vintage tone for a modern price. Only selling to free up some space in my home office and raise funds for new used house.

Bryan Kimsey reset the neck, moved the bridge slightly to correct the intonation, lightly scalloped the x-braces and tone bars, replaced the popsicle brace with his small trapezoid, replaced the stock large IRW bridgeplate with a small black locust one, did a partial refret, and replaced the tuners with Gotoh open backs (probably SE700).
  • It has since received a complete compression refret to address non-ideal relief. The relief currently measures 0.007" with mediums.
  • The current action is set up at .095" low E and .080" high e at the 12th fret. There is plenty of saddle as seen in the pics.
  • The neck shape is fantastic. It's nice and full, starting with a C shape and transitioning to a soft V up the neck. I prefer wider necks but this is an example of a narrow neck done right.
  • It has a K&K mini installed with endpin jack.
  • There are what appears to be some sanding marks on the body on either side of the heel. See photo. These probably occurred during final heel fitting during a neck reset.
  • The bridge has a repaired crack running through the bridge pins. It is stable and only noticeable during string changes. The bridge is slotted and the pins are solid ebony w/ abalone dots.
  • The pickguard has been replaced, probably due to shrinkage. Looks like there was a small outer pickguard crack but it's repaired and tight.
  • No other cracks that I'm able to see.
  • Some very light crazing on the top but otherwise the finish is in fantastic condition.

Asking $SOLD after fees (or fee-less) plus shipping. Feel free to ask any questions.

Please tell me that's a Ziploc baggie filled with wood chips that were shaved off the braces.

It is indeed! Mr. Kimsey has a wonderful sense of humor and likes to return all the original “parts”.

Guitar is sold, thanks for looking.
