Fretboard Journal's Review of the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase
Here ya go, folks, my review of the 2018 Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase. We decided to try something different this year. Photographer Extraordinaire Scott Ptak set up a photo studio at the Fest. We then picked out some of our favorite guitars. I added a few words, Scott added the studio-quality pics.
Enjoy. Recap: The 2018 Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase.

That was a very cool guitar, and Noemi (the builder) was delightful to speak with.

+1 to what Mike said. Beautiful use of buckeye burl. The guitar had a very lovely sound and was attractively priced too.

Doug, I don't recall the pricing. How much was she asking? I think it's pretty interesting that luthiers travel from that far away to get the exposure. I hope it turns out to be a profitable venture for her and the others that came from overseas.

The back on that Tim McKnight guitar is stunning. Really nice. I would have walked away with that one.

Thanks John (and colleague!), for the images and for writing about the history of the venue, which was new to me.
And I love the bridge on that guitar by Noemi Schembri. Col |

Thanks for the kind words, folks. All kudos go to photographer, Scott Ptak.
I am interested in your feedback on the format of our recap. We thought, "fewer words, more pics," and that taking studio quality pics at the show would be both unique and more pleasing to readers/viewers. Thoughts?

Agreed, but it would be helpful to have captions on the photos to identify the builders...

Thanks for putting this together with Scott Ptak’s photos. I’m proud to have my two Unlimited Series Guitars shown. Scott’s work is wonderful especially, under the tight conditions he was working in.
It was great to meet you both at the show! Mark

A very fair point! Thanks for raising it. Somehow, we lost the captions on upload. Most certainly due to my technical incompetence. Working on it!
