Great line! I would make a *moan* but I actually did LOL. Made me hear Bob Seger singing, "If I ever get outta here..."

My father was not a cat lover. When my sister wanted to get a cat, Dad said "No, it'd just be a matter of time before I'd have to find a sack, a rock, and a river."

As a cat lover, I find your dad’s comment deeply disturbing.

Don’t worry. I am allergic to a great many animals so I’m not a dog person either. My tax dollars already support a lot of living things that do nothing so I’m not a fan of spending what’s left of my paychecks on critters that do nothing

Personally, I wouldn't be without my cat. Ours is just too lazy to have real fun with(I like a little fight in my animals!!)
Mind you, Opie thought he would help me out with some transcribing!!

We had a cat growing up. He was a gentle, curious, friendly, playful, clever and loving animal. He taught us kids many positive things about interacting with animals and to some extent with humans. He would sit next to us and stay for hours if we were sick. He would nudge and caress us to make us feel better when we were sad. He would look both ways before he crossed the street, he would sit on the curb and wait for the cars to go by. He chased dogs off our property. The dogs ran in terror, no doubt having experienced his sharp claws on their sensitive canine noses. Our own dog knew better than to mess with the cat. The cat was out all day, but slept indoors at night. We would call out to him and he would come running inside. He also rang the front doorbell to be let in. No doubt he observed humans doing this, so he simply adopted the technique. He did so many amazing things, I could write a book. He has been gone almost 40 years and I will never forget him. Not all cats are like him, anymore than all humans are like each other.

I think it's great to see so many posters coming forward to sooth the OP's ruffled felines.
