Robben Ford's Gene Baker Electric Guitar For Sale
Hi All!
Up for sale is my early Gene Baker Original B - 1C Electric Guitar, which was purchased from the god-daughter of blues legend Robben Ford. This early Gene Baker guitar was built around 2001 based upon the low 300's serial number and features a bookmatched 4 AAAA Quilted Maple top over a lightly figured vertical grain Genuine Mahogany bottom and one-piece Genuine Mahogany neck. It has zebra pickups, with a push/pull tone for coil tapping. Gene Baker was/is a legit American guitar builder who has worked for both the Gibson and Fender Custom Shops, as well as building his own instruments since the 90's. The early Baker Guitar Company guitars were some of the best USA builds out there. The fit and finish on this guitar is top notch and blows away any Gibson, and is on par with Paul Reed Smith quality. Don't confuse this Baker guitar with ones made in Korea by Ed Roman under the Baker name later after Baker's company was forced into bankruptcy due to a problem with the company that financed his defect CNC machine... This guitar will come with the letter from Ford's god-daughter with the price I paid redacted. The letter essentially says it was given to her by Robben Ford, who had used the guitar, but didn't like the color, so he gave the guitar to her. Her dad was Ford's former manager, which is probably why he gave it to her. An image of the letter is attached below with names, phone number and email address redacted. However, the original letter of authenticity with everything that's blacked out excluding the price will be presented to the new purchaser. I recently got Ford to sign the guitar in gold Sharpie before his gig at the Uptown in Napa. This is a great playing excellent condition guitar has a nice tone, and plays very much like a Les Paul in both feel and weight. There is no real noticeable wear on the frets and the guitar has a nice low action. It also features the Buzz Feiten tuning system along with their shelf nut position, which sets the proper intonation for your bridge saddles and keeps the guitar in tune all over the fingerboard. Specs: Nut: 1 5/8" 22 frets 24.75" scale Fingerboard: Rosewood fingerboard with Crown inlays and 6155 frets Pickups: Seymour Duncan Tapped Humbuckers? Bridge: Original Tone-Pros Stoptail piece & Bridge Tuners: Schaller Headplate: Ebony with the Baker logo inlaid in Pearl Hardware: Chrome Pots: Push/Pull tone to activate bridge coil tap Binding on neck and top. Hardshell case: Baker Orange Weight: 8 pounds on my bathroom scale. Comes from a smoke free home. Conservatively graded at excellent condition. The reason why I'm selling it is, because I recently got a classical guitar, so I need to have the funds go toward that. Prices is $4,999.95 USD obo, plus shipping, insurance and any Paypal fees if paid via Paypal. Not for sale outside of the USA. Thanks for looking! Last edited by bond_fan; 10-11-2018 at 06:56 PM.
