Super easy cold brew coffee
80 grams coarse-ish ground coffee
6 cups water Place coffee in 64 ounce mason jar, pour in water and stir. Put in fridge and wait 12 to 24 hours. Strain however you want. I use a Bialetti pour over drip coffee (low budget Chemex type) with a "lifetime metal strainer" I already had. I'll put a pic of it at the bottom. Enjoy I store the ready to drink coffee in the fridge in a 32 ounce Ball/Mason jar I also already had. Kind of bummed out I waited this long to try it. Got scared off by the fancy methods requiring gear and multi-step techniques. I even already had all the jars! Bonus is that it uses less coffee than my Aeropress. I'm not normally a black coffee person. It's not even remotely challenging to drink this black. It tastes great that way! The only caution I would give is that it seems to be a lot stronger. The same size mug really gets me going.

It really does work and the results are very smooth. I haven't done it in a while, this post is a great reminder for me to whip up a batch...thanks.

If you don't have the materials already, I recommend just getting a cold brew kit on Amazon. I got mine years ago for about $20. Just fill it with water, add coffee to the built in strainer, and brew for a day in the fridge. It works great.

I truly don't understand why anyone would willingly drink cold coffee.

But good is good. Cold coffee. Cold Fried Chicken (maybe too old school a concept for a generation who may never have had homemade Fried chicken in their childhood), Cold Pizza... Totally understand personal preference. Had a friend who didn't like Mayonnaise, and called avocado "Nature's Mayonnaise". Had another who didn't like cake. Any cake... Me: "You've had carrot? Red Velvet? Death by chocolate? Genoise with Buttercream?" Him: Yup. Me: "Didn't like any of them?" Him: Nope

A large french press also works great for making the cold brew, just leave it in the fridge over night.

Cold is a lot smoother than hot coffee.

Same here...the only time I've drank cold coffee is way back in my military service days ('69-'72) when it was that or nothing...

I don't know where this world is going but I don't like it. I've heard about people who molest a glass of bourbon with ice cubes. Before you know it they'll be "chicken" made out of soy beans, bacon made from turkey and (things that look like) guitars made from crystalline filaments of carbon!
I used to work nights and have happily eaten cold lasagna, pizza, General Tso's chicken, and eggplant parm at 7:30 in the morning. Cold coffee, never. |

Maybe I'm in the wrong thread, where is that weight loss thingy? Don't get me wrong, I hardly can wait to try this!

Cold coffee?
It's not my cup of tea. Although I don't like tea either, hot or cold. |
