Default NGD - Guild F212XL

Being perfectly pleased with my current stable as it is, I didn't exactly need another jumbo Guild 12-string, but I figure AGFers know how that goes.

So Guild's F212XL is a solid mahogany backed, spruce-topped 17" lower bout jumbo. (The F512 is rosewood backed, and the JF30-12 is braceless, arched maple backed.) It was listed as "mint" and I got no argument there. This is a 2010 New Hartford build.

This guitar really surprised me. It is a monster music-maker. The F512 is a bit more refined and mellow. The F212XL shouts from the rafters, so to speak, much like my JF30-12, which is still one of my favorites. This one's another keeper though, that's for sure.

Congratulations! I have always been struck with rosewood Jumbos more than mahogany.
But... i went to a concert to hear Barry Mcguire & Terry Talbot in the 90's.
Terry was playing an old 70s F212xl. That guitar was one of the best 12 strings i have heard. Beautiful clarity and deep growl were abundant!

I love the colors of the woods on that one.

Can almost hear you playing “Give a Little Bit” by Supertramp on it right now.

Congrats on a great guitar!

DCCougar, That's a Beautiful Guild F212XL, and they are cannons--Enjoy!

Back about 5 years ago, I, too, purchased an almost new 2010 Guild F212XL. Mine was on consignment at my favorite local dealer and was from an Ovation/Guild/Hamer employee who worked as a luthier/tech at the factory in New Hartford. He was retired and had many guitars and had a couple of daughters who didn't play guitar so he was selling off many of his guitars. He has a connection with my dealer and that's how the guitar was for sale at the store.

Wow! What a find! What a great looking guitar!

I gave my F-212 to my son when I got my F-512, but that F-212XL with bigger dimensions looks wonderful! Good for you! I would love having one of those!

That’s a killer guitar. I miss the one I sold in 1976 during a bleak financial period. I’ve never played a better 12.

A Guild 12-string, every 12-string player should experience one of them.

My Guild is a JF-30, but I also admire the sound of the other variations.

Default F212XL

Guild is the gold standard every other acoustic 12 string is judged by. Can’t beat them!

Congrats!

You might also want to post that over on Let’s Talk Guild.
