Default Louisiana Luthier in the news

It's always good to see a Luthier featured with a good interview in the news. I had the pleasure to meet and visit with Mike Armand of Aubade Acoustics in Lecompte, LA, just before Christmas last year and thoroughly enjoyed our visit and his shop. Btw, kudos to anyone who can pronounce 'Lecompte' correctly.

Today his local news station did a feature on him and his guitars. Here's the link to Down Home LA: The Music Maker. Mike said they filmed for an hour but the video is about two minutes long.

Enjoy!

Default Thanks for posting

My parents live in Natchitoches, and I have been trying to convince my dad to take the short trip to go check out Aubade guitars. (And maybe even commission a guitar through him.). Maybe I will get my parents to watch this short video and that will inspire my dad to finally take my advice for a change!

Yes, a short trip for your dad. Mike is a gracious host and has a really nice shop. He builds nice guitars, too!

Wish I had known about this. I was just in Lafayette, bureaux bridge, and New Orleans. I bet audade acoustics was close enough for a drop in.

That is funny. Named after a famous race horse. I am about 3 miles from Lea's.

John, I hate that you could not make it. I am about 1 hour north of Lafayette next time.

Kudos to you!! My grandparents had a farm right down the road from Loyd's Hall, about 10 minutes from Mike's shop, so I've been hearing people attempt to pronounce Lecompte for some 50 years.

Lecompte is impressive alright, but gotgas mentioned the real tongue-twister, "Natchitoches". Living in its twin city, "Nacogdoches", we can empathize with people struggling over the phonetic nightmare. What was chief Caddo thinking?

Good on ya, Mike! Congrats on the coverage.

Steve
