Default A Good Month for Propsom Guitars

To misquote SNL's Chico Escuela: "Healdsburg been very very good to me." Less than three hours into the show I sold my EIR 000 tricone to a Bay area resident, and a pommelle sapele OM to Trevor of TAMCO. Later that afternoon someone ordered a 000 tricone. Made it well worth the the drive down the smoky I-5 corridor from Washington.

Then, yesterday a gent visiting my favorite West coast guitar shop had so much trouble deciding between a ziricote Grand Parlor of mine and a John How parlor that he bought both.

Looks like my boy Laddie and I will be in kibble and ramen for a good spell.

Michael,

If keep making guitars like the ones you had a HB then you deserve success.

Thanks all for the collective thumbs ups, gents. Actually, Burton, my potential trip to Gilmer might be postponed for one more sale, as I invested heavily in HGF host LMI's great Premium EIR and Macassar ebony. Then again, when has a little thing like financial over extension deterred a tonewood addict from adding to his/her stash? Let's hear it for responsible deficit spending!

One of the things I like most about building guitars is, if you are good at it, all you really need to be successful is to get your instruments into the hands of players who are good at what they do. An excellent guitar can only give its honest testimony in the hands of a player. Guitars aren't capable of misrepresenting themselves. And great guitars will be seen for what they are.

And THAT, Michael, is the reason you're doing well. Because your guitars speak for themselves-- eloquently, fluently, and artfully. Your craftsmanship is superb, your designs are elegant and refined, and the sound of your guitars is deeply satisfying and thrilling to hear.

I can say this without reservation, because Michael became my friend at Healdsburg 2011, when we shared a table at the show. I came to a deep admiration for both the man and his guitars. Anyone out there who is considering commissioning a splendid instrument would do well to look into a Propsom.
Cheers! -Steve

Whoa, high praise from an artist and craftsman! Sharing the table with you, Steve was one of the high points of my '011 show. I regret that we didn't get much time at all to catch up. This was one busy show. I look forward to your return to the Pac NW so we can work up a get together.

Yet another reason I feel privileged to be part of this forum. The camaraderie between builders is a joy to see when most of us live in a cutthroat world. Owning a business is lonely enough as it is. Owning a one-person operation is all the more so. And in spite of competing for a pool of custom guitar dollars, you all genuinely support each others' success. This a wonderful and humbling place to hang out.

And Michael, I hope to have the opportunity to play one of your builds one day. Congratulations on the success you had at HGF!
