Default For those anal about humidity

Just something I noticed...Been monitoring in my case with my SensorPush sensors for some time now. Originally I started paying a little more attention to things when I noticed that there was starting to be quite a difference in humidity readings at the headstock when compared to the sound hole as humidity started to creep down here with the cold.

I was getting a 49% read on the headstock sensor and a just over 40% read at the sound hole. I then took my 3rd SensorPush sensor that normally stays outside the case in the guitar room itself, and I placed it between the headstock and the sound hole in the case just to see what the reading was by the neck. It was reading just over 41% while the headstock and sound hole were reading the numbers already stated above.

These readings were with 2 Boveda humidipaks at the headstock and 2 in the sound hole.

Since then I have placed an additional 3 humidipaks in the sound hole and one at the neck, for a total of 8 in the case (2 headstock, 1 neck, 5 sound hole). Over the past 24 hours it now seems to be 50 at the headstock, 48 at the neck, and 45.5 at the sound hole.

All this to say, I was surprised that there was such a discrepancy between the head stock and sound hole, and that the neck area was as low as it was. My goal is to ensure that everything stays between 45% and 50% humidity in the 3 areas of the case.

I will make sure I recharge the 8 packs well before they dry up and cycle back and forth between 2 sets of 8 packs once a month or so.

In any case, I thought some might appreciate these observations. I personally always assumed that the dispersion of humidity in the case would naturally be a little more uniform than it was. It surprised me a bit.

I'm just trying to get my game on humidity management wise before next winter when I will be dealing with a more expensive solid wood guitar I have coming.

The data set read outs for this SensorPush product are really great for analyzing this kinda stuff...

Cheers

I wonder if you would get the same results using a different case?

I should mention that this was a Godin Tric case, which is theoretically doing a better job than most at handling climate control...

Your point is taken though...I suspect that there would be different observations with different cases...No doubt...

I put my Music Nomad sponge above the Heatstock.
I place my Oasis meter next to the fretboard above the accessory compartment case. It Reads in the high 50's most often ( 56% )
Yet when I take the Oasis meter and put it in the soundhole, it will read in the low 40's.
Actually I would expect this...as the moisture is first being released higher up. In my case, this works out very well. I am very pleased with The Music Nomad system. The high density sponge holds the water well...and the hard plastic housing further protects from water being relealsed.
