Breedlove Exotic Fingerstylist Opinions
Hello all!! First time poster, long time reader. I play a lot of fingerstlye and own one Breedlove already. However, the nearest store that has an exotic Fingerstylist is about 6 hours away from me. If anyone has had experience with this guitar I'd love to hear your opinions! Thanks in advance.

I've played two, a couple of years apart, in two different places (i.e. not from the same batch). Very pretty and comfortable to play. However, I found both models to be extremely quiet, problematically so. The limited dynamic range really restricts what you can do with it.
I wouldn't drive 6 hours to play one.

To my way of thinking, the finger-style method of playing calls for a guitar with a wide dynamic range. If a finger-stylist has to whip the strings in order to coax sufficient sound out of the guitar, he can’t focus on being expressive.

Yes. That's what I play, primarily.

Correct, that's the idea. That guitar had nice tone, but it's just too dang quiet.

Yes. My current Breedlove has a western red cedar top. I have been playing it for about 7 years and it has defiantly warmed up to be a beautiful instrument. If not the Exotic Fingerstylist, what else should I be looking at? Maybe a Masterclass Concert(Myrtle Wood)?

What is the shape and body wood of your current guitar? I've played this one and it's terrific: http://mightyfineguitars.com/invento...ve-ca-cmw-3990

If you like Breedloves, check out the new Concerto line.
http://breedlovemusic.com/acoustic-g...hapes/concerto Several of us on the forum have played them and they are clean clear and loud. I have two of the Breedlove Concert guitars so I'm not in the market but the Concerto I played was a great instrument. |
