Yes, he is with us here. I'm in touch with him and he is following this thread. I've already given him my sales reps email.

I've got to go. I'm at my Long Island house and I have to get out to clear the snow. I got a new snowblower here and this will be the first time I get to use it!

I've also never been able to get a penny discount on any used gear and I've bought lots through the years.
I sent her an email yesterday asking if she would like me to send GC customers her way. I won't post her info online but if she ok's it, I'll PM you with her contact info and also explain how she was able to sell me the guitar for $1479. Yesterday was her day off so I'm waiting to hear from her. She also pushed it through to get a new one from the warehouse and not the floor model that they were trying to push on me.

I'll let you know.

I just heard back from my Sales Rep at GC/MF. She's willing to work to give there best price she can at the time.

She has ok'd me sharing her email but I don't feel comfortable just putting it out on line. If anybody wants it, PM me and I'll get back to you.

…and AGF opens the sales pipeline. I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.

Wasn't there a fellow member here that was very interested in this very same guitar?

Did he ever make his decision?

I would have thought for sure he would have added some insight to this thread?

That looks cool. Martin seems to use the 16 Series to experiment with different concepts - they’ve released some cool 16 models at random times. I have an HD16R-LSH from about 20 years ago. It’s like a fancy HD-28 with a large sound hole. Essentially a Martin copy of their own Clarence White model. You don’t see a lot of them around, but it’s a great guitar. Sounds great on all those ‘70s singer/songwriter and bluegrass style things.
Enjoy that beauty!

Troubador is with us here, following this thread but he's no longer posting. I'm in touch with him and he has my sales reps contact info. So far, he's still sitting on the fence.

Yes, some of these 16 series guitars are legendary, like yours. All the 16's are good but some models have just stood out. Some experiments have just not been a success, like the new 000 depth 16's. GC did a good job fixing that mistake. It's time for Martin to fix that mistake a come out again with a full depth d-16!

You are 100% correct. I couldn't take it anymore so I looked up the Standard Series forward shifted bracing diagram and got my fingers in there in the sound hole and looked around and it is Standard Forward Shifted bracing. This guitar is the ''Poor Man's HD-28''

I've had it for 6 days. It probably sat in the warehouse for 6 months to a year. It's really waking up and now it's like a sleeping dragon that's ready to breath fire!

So from what you've explained and observed this sounds like a fabulous buy. You stated it's the poor mans HD28 and at less than half the cost with the discount. Question for you. After it opens some more, do you think you could pick it out in a blind taste test against an HD28? Congrats again!!

Yes, the early D16's from the late 80's and early 90's were exceptional. Basically a poor man's D18V. Those D16's from that era are the sleeper Martin's to be had if they don't need a neck reset.

I don't know if he has informed you as to why he is still on the fence, from what I have read so far is that this as close to a HD-28 without actually buying a HD-28 correct?

Looking at the discount you received that is a very tempting deal, Guitar Center is only 20 minutes from my house and from what I am gathering this would be a great travel guitar, I think a quick spin to GC is in order to demo one, that's if they have it in stock, the last time I went, there stock was the lowest I've see.

Is this a limited run?
