I wanted one other Martin to compliment my GPC-15ME. I had a 00-18 that was nice, maybe should have kept it but sold it for whatever reason, then got an HD-28 that was also good but I think that super dark rosewood tone isn’t for me, so I sold it and then saw this Model America 1.
All I can say is Wow. Loved it on first strum. It’s super light weight, responsive, Very easy to play. I haven’t had much time with it but I can already say it reminds me of my GPC with an addictive neck profile. It plays like a short scale guitar. It sounds like what I imagine the newer D-18s sound like, but this one has an Adirondack top and sycamore body. Great deep bass but also good treble shimmer. The only thing I don’t like is the walnut bridge. The wood feels like raw wood, like they forgot to sand and finish it. Guess I’ll try to do that myself. Anyways, I’ll post pics soon. Play on!

Great guitar. I played one many years ago at a store in downtown Vancouver. It had been for sale for some time and had dead strings on it. Still lots of volume. I remember thinking more than once I should have bought it. Congrats and I look forward to the pics.

Just for reference, here's some pics of one of the two known examples of the original 1906 Model America, based on an 0-28:

A friend of mine has one of these sycamore Martin America models. I’ve played it; it sounds great, like an exceptionally good-sounding D-18.

Still haven’t had a chance to take pics, but here is one from the reverb listing.
Very excited about this guitar. And it’s cool to know they can build a standard series model with domestic woods.

Here we go. Very fun guitar. Need some more time with it but Im loving the feather weight build and tone. I had a pre reimagined d-18 that I liked as well but this one does seem a bit more responsive and warm, with that typical Martin dread tone.
