My last two (and maybe last two?) were a factory-new J-45 and an almost unplayed 4-year-old HD-28.
The J-45 arrived on the truck in perfect tune, so the first thing I did is change the strings three months later. After a while I had Gryphon change the tuners to 21:1. Nothing else. All the HD-28 needed was a pretty substantial truss rod tweak. I watched amazed while the Gryphon tech turned one, then two, then a third quarter turn. Like I said, almost unplayed (and just a humble Standard guitar, largely ignored in an elite collection — lucky me). I bought a truss rod wrench and gave it one more quarter turn (the other way) after I changed to light strings. That’s it so far. I keep ’em clean and polished. So count me lucky. I could see asking Gryphon to take a fine tuning to the nut slots and saddles someday maybe. But no complaints for now.

Electric or acoustic, if its used then take strings off, clean with lighter fluid, put strings on, play. Oh, spray inside of case with 70% alcohol.
