I am hoping someone here may have an extra set or three of the now discontinued Elixir Kottke style mediums for 12 string

Since I just scored a primo 95 LKSM 12…. Thanks AGF

I know it is possible to use a six string medium set and add singles but thought I would try here first.

I had an LKSM 12 and used any good medium string with great results. You are definitely not limited to that particular product unless it is a strong preference.

Whenever I'm needing a set of strings for my 12 string, I have Strings and Beyond "make me" a set of Elixir phosphor bronze with 12's...

I believe that is what Elixir calls "medium gauge". Very difficult to find and impossible in the phosphor bronze alloy. Most all Elixir 12 string sets are 80-20, and finding a set of 12's in 80-20 is rare.

I've gone to the trouble of writing to Elixir, begging them to make medium gauge phosphor bronze sets available...

My new to me 12 string 1995 LKSM is with Tim Luranc for setup. He has one set of the discontinued Elixir mediums, for tuning down to C# or even C.

I am hopeful someone here will have some hanging around!

And I will do as Jseth did and rattle Elixir’s cage. Maybe if enough of us ask…. Could happen.

I don't like/use coated strings, but I'm finding my preferred sets increasingly difficult to source. I prefer 12/12-56/30.

Martin M190s for my Harmony H1270 and D'add ej37s

I think I may have found the last two sets of M190s, and the last two sets were rusty.

On Elderly Instruments website you can order a Custom GHS set designed to be very similar to the gauges that Leo Lottke uses.
They even reference him in their description of the 12 string set.
Just go their site and look up their 12 string acoustic sets .. and the Custom GHS set is there... with a "warning" about tuning them!
I hope they are something that works for you. I really like GHS strings for my Taylor Grand Orchestra 12 string...but have never tried that set for my guitar.
Your guitar is built specifically to handle the tuning and string gauge. I doubt that my Taylor would be braced to get the maximum advantage out of a set like that!

Congrats on your LKSM12. Such a great guitar and Tim Luranc will set it up perfectly. I bought a bunch of the elixir nano web 12 - string heavy / .013 - .056 packs when it seemed elixir was not going to produce them anymore. However, I’ve switched to a lighter custom set these days. Anyways, I have five complete sets and one set missing the .014, .018 and .027. If you want them, send me a pm.
