I can recommend a bunch if you tune that 6th string down to C: CGCGCD.

page used this tuning for dozens of songs...most songs have been arranged for standard, put he played alot of them his own way. hit the led zeppelin and maybe you'll find some more good ones... maybe not though, its not like they were good or anything

OK, for some good music in CGCGCD, check out:
Al Petteway--especially "Caledon Wood" and "Funky C, Funky Do" from the Caledon Wood album. Mike Golay--"Maine Waltz" from Across the Bridge, or "Beverly Jane," "Jack of Hearts," or "St. Martin" (uses CGCGCE) from Half Pint. Me--I use the tuning quite a bit. See my discography page for the songs that use CGCGCD and its close cousins CGCGCE and CGCGCEb. David Wilcox--tends to use CGCGCE instead of having the high string tuned down to D. This gives an open C major tuning, which works really well with his singer-songwriter stuff. Listen to songs like "Eye of the Hurricane," "Rusty Old American Dream," and "Show the Way" for a few good examples. Martin Simpson is another fingerstyle player who uses CGCGCD quite a bit. I believe it's also a favorite of Larry (ljguitar) Jacobsen, who is a forum member. |

It's one I have recorded, yet have not mastered. I love the multiple sets of octave strings. |

my intro to Csus2 (CGCGCD) was al petteway's version of "jock o'hazeldean" from his caledon wood album. as jim mentioned, i use it and open C quite a bit.
DGDGCD is another close variant. i recorded "the handsome young maidens" in that tuning. another nod to martin simpson goes out - he's an absolute master and has recorded extensively using these tunings. steve baughman has also recorded a lot of material in CGDGCD, which he calls "orkney." great tuning, lots of possibilities. lovely family of tunings. enjoy. |

They are, and it is important when using variants not to let the mind drift off or you can forget which variant you're in and it reeks havoc with fingerings! |

Look up Square neck resonator fiddle tunes, they use the High G tuning a lot. Sorry I misread your post High G is GBDGBD. Ignore me.
