I got to see her perform a number of times over the years, and was lucky enough to meet her one time...

She was just as down to earth and unpretentious as she seemed to be in the media. It wasn't a front.

She was a major talent and also broke ground (when it wasn't easy to be a female in the music business) for a lot of women who came after her...

Best wishes to her family and loved ones.

A beautiful soul. We had the pleasure of meeting her a few times and talking with her in her tour bus. A real lady who was gracious and extremely nice to her fans. She even set Conway straight, when he was acting up around us.

She accomplished so much and served as a mentor for young women as well as men trying to navigate the country music scene without sacrificing their authentic voice.
Best,
Jayne

Big influence for Nanci Griffith.

https://youtu.be/VBNqBjqS6hA

She’d say you take a little Pete Seeger and a little Loretta Lynn and you get Nanci Griffith’s folkabilly music. Mostly she admired Loretta’s songwriting chops and tried to write a few songs emulating Loretta’s “voice.”

I liked some of her music, but I loved that she was as real as real gets. That’s such a rare thing, especially in show biz. RIP.
