Default Great Acoustic Amps?

If you had to have one great acoustic amp, what would it be? I've heard the Fenders, the SWR's and Doyle's Rivera. Some great amps but not cheap. I have a small acoustic amp called AR Acoustic. Nice tone but not a lot of punch. Just wondering if anyone has any advice ... pro or con ... on one fine acoustic amp. You know, one that a person can keep for 10 years and still love it. Seems that many of the amp companies are making them now ... any gems out there? Thanks!

Default Amp

By far the best I've ever used is the Carvin Acoustic amp. It's a fantastic buy and can be used as a PA and also has a killer bass channel as well. Awesome. I use one every week as a Worship Leader. Check them out

Thanks! I've now seen all the comments about Ultrasound amp and am curious about the Carvin as well. Going to check them out!
Pretty cool forum - good group.

I’d take a PA over any amp. But the SWR California Blonde is pretty darn sweet. Ultrasound is up there too, especially if volume isn’t too big of a factor.

I started out with a Crate 125. Pretty nice amp, but found that I would be better off with a PA . Bought a very nice Peavey Escort.

...I don't know, I had the Ultrasound 100 watts 4 X 8" model for a few weeks, and after one gig I realized this wasn't going to cut it. Sounded great, but it was just about maxed out and no where near what one of my California Blondes would do on say "4". This was not a super big room, though it was pretty dead acousticlly as I recall, if I would have stuck with Ulltrasound I would have need more than one for sure.

Personally, I don't care for the UltraSound. I compared it to my Marshall AS100D, and no no no, it couldn't hold a candle. I need lots of punch, not a bunch of muffled music coming from my amp. I tried the Cali Blonde, and a few Fenders too....the Marshall kicks. I mean, like wow.

Default Great Acoustic Amps?

I have a Marshall ASR-50 in the 'music room'. Love the sound, except when I turn it on. There's a "pop", then everything is fine. Don't know if this is normal or not. Still like the amp and it has enough volume to rattle the windows. Guess the right amp is the one you like the best.
