Default Alison Krauss + Union Station Live CD

I must admit...I've never really been a huge fan of country, folk, or bluegrass. I bought this CD for my wife as an XMas present, 'cause I knew she dug the "O Brother" soundtrack.

So here's the kicker...I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS CD! She is unbelievably talented, and that band...well...I don't know what else to say, except that THEY ROCK.

Anyone else have this CD? And if there are any old time fans out there, which of her other CDs should get to feed the crave?

"Live" has been in my CD Player continuously.

I've had my copy of "Live" for about a month. The sound quality is great for a live album and the energy from the musicans really- as you say "they rock".

Been listening to Jerry Douglas for the last three years pretty heavily. My brother said "you should listen to Allison Krauss then".

I'd recommend "New Favorite" for your next purchase.

Michael

ps
If you like Dobro/jamming (like on "We Hide & Seek") check out Jerry Douglas try Slide Rule, Hop Skip & Wobble or Look Out For Hope.

Could not agree with you more. She and the band are as you say "unbelievably" talented.

She is also a big influence behind NICKEL CREEK. Might give them a listen as well. Although they're not old time, you can hear Allisons' influence (IMO) in some of their latest music.

Last I knew, she was actually their producer. I think on a couple of tunes they've got, she sings background. Producer's perogative I guess...........

Thumbs up me like...

Man, I like her too. I think she's got a great voice. Their older CD(s) are great too.

I like it when I get in those bluegrass moods.

Wow. Had no idea. Checked their latest CD and sure enough "Produced by Alison Kraus". No wonder I like Nickel Creek.

Nickel Creek's new CD is a great one...

Except I can't get my wife to remove it from the car CD changer so I can listen to it on my train ride to work!

Thumbs up

Love the live CD. They are a great band, and even in Krauss' other bands the level of technical expertise has been miles above other BG bands.

Yes, she has produced both Nickel Creek CDs. Sarah, the fiddle player in NC is a huge Krauss fan, and has modeled her singing and playing after Allison's.

New Fav is great, but the one previous to that is even better. It's called " Forget About It". Same writer, Robert Lee Castleman, contributed a number of songs.

You like the current A. Krauss and US? Get some of the old stuff...Two Highways, etc. Rocks as good, if not better, than the current stuff.

When it comes to Alison, it's all good in my book.

Talking

I was introduced to Alisson in 1990. I have had at least 1 of her CDs in the changer ever since. And yes, get the older stuff.
