Default Danza Caracteristica - Brouwer

Hello,

Danza Caracteristica is an Afro-Cuban dance with a very contemporary flavor composed by Leo Brouwer in his youth, Enjoy!

Absolutely knockout. Loved that. Not what I was expecting and all the better for that. Unexpected. Lively. Dissonant. Fun. And you could tell from your playing that you enjoyed the mischief within the music. Very well played indeed. It's brought a big smile to my face.

Thank you very much!

The guitar is a Kim Lissarrague with balsa+carbon bracing, it provides the tone of a classical with (almost!) the sustain of an acoustic, I love it!

Thank you very much for your comment and glad you liked it! Brouwer's youthful pieces are thus often dissonant, punchy and very rhythmic; some kind of blend of Cuban music with Stravinsky and Bartok.

Even his 20 Simple Studies (Estudios sencillos) are really fun to play. When I first heard Brouwer it blew me away and I really got into classical guitar.

Speaking of the old days, I looked at your youtube channel and I came across Mood for a day, great piece by Steve Howe that also mixes different styles!

Thanks again,
