That is a really good traditional sounding guitar, and the playing is great! Fantastic!

Thanks A Datts!

Some news....Waterloo ladder has gone to my luthier for a Trinity dual source K&K install plus a nice setup while there at the best luthier in town! I wonder if the mic will show the ‘ladder bracingness’ ?

Now, a waiting game.....

Cool - as it happens my WL-14 is ladder braced, and has a K&K trinity installed. The mic definitely captures the ladder braced sound for me, that airiness comes through nicely - I think you'll like it!

Cheers

Really?

Oh yeah, that probably makes you AND me and that is about all with the same guitar and soon to be same pickup! Have you had the famous feedback problems in a live situation? If we are ever allowed to gig again (here), I intend to use my Shure in ear monitors and have the mic on flat out!

I also have bought 3 K&K trinity mics for the other guitars I have plain K&Ks in.....currently they are flying somewhere over us to arrive Friday. Let me say it is because I am so impressed with the Onboard Trinity System I had installed on my custom Cargill 00 - I actually ordered the wrong kit, just wanted the outboard preamp Trinity.....but now that I have it I can go anywhere (soon, maybe) and just...plug in. How cool is that?

That's awesome! As far as feedback goes, I had the Trinity installed in 2 of my Waterloo's, the WL-14 and a WL-S Deluxe. I get no feedback at all with the WL-14, and it's very easy to dial in good sound. With the WL-S, I do get some feedback, and have to utilise a heavy cut to the mids, but after that it sounds great.

For live use now though, I tend not to plug in anymore, and use a condenser microphone as a single source.

One thing I found with the Trinity was, for me, I preferred just using a small amount of the microphone blended in. Too much and it all felt a little thin, I liked the body and warmth I was getting from the K&K, but with that natural air from a bit of microphone, it's a fantastic system.

Mic only?

Well, I have to say that I have spent a small fortune, including the new Trinity stuff, in an attempt to avoid ever ceding control of my vocal/acoustic guitar mix to another (dis-interested) soundperson ever, ever again. Years back, a guy turned my mic on...way loud...and went off to have a smoke. Disaster. Thanks!

So I have been working on ...playing...vocal...sound ....for myself. Unless I personally do my own mix, forget it. Even if I use my Boss VE8 plugged to a strange mixer and PA, I have my settings saved! I don’t think there are many sound people that can get a good acoustic guitar/vocal sound on the first chord without soundcheck. Modern gadgets allow it to be pretty good straight up......just gently turn that Master Volume up, Fella!

Fabulous.
Swing-y and smooth as butter yet raw and intimate like only certain blues can be.
Top marks.
