Default Old German Wintersong & season greetings

Hi folks, I wish you all some nice, quiet and cosy Holidays and a grand new start for 2010. Winter has finally arrived in good ole Germany and so I improvised a short version of the old wintersong "Leise rieselt der Schnee" / Snow falls softly at night. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting that. Christmas is usually the time when I miss my home country the most. I really enjoyed it.

If you don't mind me asking, how are you recording? It sounds amazing

Thanks to all.

I used the McIlroy A35c guitar and a pair of Groove Tubes GT40
The signal than enters a SM Audio Pro TB202 Preamp and goes to the Zoom H4N recorder. I added some reverb with a TC Reverb Plugin on the PC afterwards.
This configuration is sounding very dynamic and sensitiv. The only disadvantage is that you hear any backround noise, especially stiffed nose when you have the flue :o)

Rolli,

Very nice sir!

I'm wondering why you used the preamp in the chain, when the H4n will provide phantom power? Were you not dumping the Zoom file to software where you could add EQ and compression? Again, a lovely recording and I'm not criticizing at all, just curious as I use my condensors straight to the Zoom. More than one way to "skin a cat" as they say.

Beautiful song!

Beautiful work as usual, Rolli.

Sweet sweet tone on the McIlroy.

Did I tell you that I now have your arrangement of "Star of the County Down" as the ringtone on my cell? How's that for a compliment!

Ich wünsche dich ein sehr frohes Weihnachtsfest.

Hi Rich,

great that you like it.

I always send the microphone signal to the tube preamp to add some warmth and to pump it up a little. I alway set the input volume of the H4n to 1 (zero is not possible) since I like the sound of the tube preamp much better. Only when I use the H4n as idea recorder I use the internal preamp and the mics.
