Default Jeff Daniels.....

I knew Jeff Daniels was a singer/songwriter of sorts and had MC'ed the Ann Arbor Folk Festival one year, but I had no idea the level of talent.

I'd (very wrongly) assumed he was a three chord comic, so to speak, but a guy I give lessons to passed me "Live and Unplugged" and "My Grandfather's Hat" last week and I got to listen to them very closely on the way to Ann Arbor yesterday in the car.

Very talented guy for sure.....crafty blues fingerpicker, incredible lyrics (both comical and heart wrenching...the sign of a great songwriter IMO) and a great voice to top it off.

I was really, really suprised. Especially "Live...." was one of the best new (to me) things I've heard in a long time....

check him out if you aren't familiar......good stuff!!

Here's an "audio only" Youtube of one of the great story songs.....

Excellent! I've enjoyed some of his acting - "The Butcher's Wife" is one of my favorites - but didn't have a clue about his music.

Thanks for the lead!

I had NO idea he did this sort of thing.
But some of the tunes on YouTube were just great stuff.

Forgive me Robert Johnson is a classic. I might have to learn that one myself.

He's the real deal for sure. I like his music and his acting. Can't say that about Kevin Costner, Billy Bob Thornton and Bruce Willis.

He did a great (live) bluesy version of Jingle Bells a couple of years ago at the Thanksgiving Day Parade in "DeTwa"... the man does have serious talent!

If you don't like Billy Bob Thornton's acting - you can really dislike his music:

Yeah, I saw that clip before and agree. I don't think his acting isn't too bad, I just don't like his Hollywood personality.

Shot live from BLISSFEST 2007, Jeff Daniels sings "Buckless Yooper", inspired by the film "Escanaba in da Moonlight". Filmed at Blissfest Music Festival, Harbor Springs, MI. Sunday, July 15, 2007.

Harbor Springs is a very beautiful place to be... Some of the best scenery Michigan has to offer is right around there (IMO). Maybe I can catch that festival next year.

He shows up in Elderly's advertising pieces pretty often, sort of celebrity endorsement.
