Martin D-18 Authentic 1939 Aged
I am posting this to gauge interest because I'm still on the fence about keeping this guitar. I have some upcoming projects which I wasn't previously anticipating; I don't need or want to sell it, but the money would help.
I will start by saying that this is the most open, resonant, dry, vintage, and woody sounding dread I've played. It also has a "key crack" on its side (treble side), and moderate fret wear on the first few frets B/E strings. I had my local luthier, Nick at NC Guitar Works look at it, and he said he could 1) stabilize the crack and make it look nearly invisible, 2) dress the frets, and 3) do a full setup for under $300. I've factored this into the price, which is $4000 plus shipping, trade value $4200. This is the Aged model, which means it was relic'd from the factory, with lacquer checking, dings, pick gouges, etc. I purchased this from someone who purchased it from Chicago Music Exchange, and the original ad can be seen at the link below. To my knowledge, the key crack is the only notable blemish which wasn't intentionally added at the Martin factory in Nazareth. I've verified the listed weight of 3lb 13oz is accurate - this thing is light as a feather and its explosive tone is reflective of that. https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com...-2018/31092565 Link to Imgur photo album: https://imgur.com/a/ce4bK5L Summary Finish: Original Top Material: Spruce Top Body Material: Mahogany Body Body Details: Mahogany back and sides with spruce top. I have one of these, they're awesome! If you don't have 30k laying around for a real 39 d18, this is your best bet, plenty of videos showing comparison sounds and they got very close to the original. Don't confuse this with the normal 39 authentic, the aged one blows it out of the water even if the relic thing isn't your taste, the sound is better I've owned them both.
