I have a cedar top, mahogany back and sides Taylor 514CE built in 2002. It's a nice guitar with a very pleasant sound. I put a bone saddle in it to replace the original Tusq saddle to get a little more bass out of the guitar, and that worked well. And I use uncoated D'Addario EJ16 (PB, light gauge) strings on the guitar, but otherwise the guitar is stock as it came from Taylor.
Here is a recording I did with this guitar in the past. It works well for Tommy Emmanuel fingerstyle guitar pieces, I think. - Glenn

I have a Lakewood dreadnaught with the cedar/ hog combo and it's phenomenal. Best sounding guitar I've ever owned. The Internet experts all say that cedar is only good for fingerpicking but that's a crock of BS. I flatpick and this guitar handles that just fine. I've had my Lakewood for a good while now and I like the way the cedar has aged and opened up.

Norman makes a dread, ST40, all solid, hog b/s cedar top, $650 cad new which is like $500 U.S. I’m sure it’s not high grade mahogany at that price, but everyone I’ve read about that has one loves it and they’re made in Canada. It’s been on my list for a while to try out.

Early to mid 1990s Takamine EN-10c guitars are workhorses. They respond well to fingerstyle (I typically have mine in DADGAD) and can take a beating if you want to strum them heavy.
I believe they were the first acoustic/electric dreadnought and make most short lists of classic acoustic guitars for that reason, IIRC.

Interesting discussion (and a topic near and dear to my guitar heart) but this is a 9 year old zombie thread and I think answering the original question is probably not helping the original poster at this point.

How long can we keep this zombie walkin' ?
If you posted in this thread, when it was fresh and had all it's limbs, do you still have the guitar you mentioned ? Do you STILL like the Cedar/Mahogany sound?

Cedar/Hog Zombies
Ordinarily I wouldn't post on a Zombie thread, but hey, (1) I love Cedar/Hog as a wood combo for finger-style / lighter touch, and (2) Walden recently reawakened from it's sleep of the dead to pop its head up in the middle of a Global pandemic - here's a link to one of our C/H all solid instruments: https://waldenguitars.com/product/g2070rce/

I love zombie threads! My Breedlove Pursuit Concerto is cedar/mahogany and I think it sounds great. The tone is nice and balanced - just the right mix of bass and treble.
