No. It's not about the country of manufacture. It's about quality control.
Therefore, I see no reason why an Eastman should per se be more desirable than a MIC Yamaha or Gretsch.

With all due respect,if you hate the look why’d you even pick it up? Stop that.

At this moment I feel all alone because I think D’Angelico headstocks look amazing. Hate them all you want. I don’t care. I like them.

I don't love or not love brands so I can't really relate to the question. I love or don't love individual guitars. For me brand names are only a reference point for understanding general attributes such as build quality, style, and overall tonal characteristics.

The problem is most people haven't seen them on a real D'Angelico.

Given that so many really good guitars exist today, I'm just not seeing many instruments (musical/mechanical tools) that are so sonically/tactilely superior to others that they justify owning/playing something fugly that makes you cringe when you look at a grotesque headstock - and you know that other people do too.

If it is ONLY the headstock, then I'd buy it. From personal experience, an "ugly" headstock can grow on you and become "pretty" as long as the guitar is good.

I bought a Taylor last year. An 814ce Builder Edition. Beautiful instrument.

I never played a Taylor I liked, but never really gave one a chance.

Bought from GC/MF warehouse. Set it up, strung with my strings,. Took it back in two weeks and got a used 2002 J-200 50's RI for same price.

I'll never buy another Taylor.

Never go back.

Pretty much a yes. In similar fashion I wouldn’t buy a guitar from a company that I do like.

Hahaha
I like this thread.

This is one of the reasons that I don’t like this particular brand of guitar. I cannot help it, I am a serious headstock snob!

I picked up this guitar, mainly out of curiosity and was completely blown away. I’ve not been able to stop thinking about it. But I really do not like the way it looks, I hate the headstock shape, and don’t generally like the vibe of the brand that made it.

I am intentionally not listing the brand. I do not want to offend anyone that likes this brand, and I don’t want to color the discussion in any way regarding the brand.

How would you handle this situation?
I'd probably skip it.

If it bugs you each time you look at it, its not going to be much fun playing it, even if you like the way it sounds. You can find things that sound good, that don't make you cringe when you see it.

I try everything at "Guitarget" probably once a month just to see what plays well and sounds pleasing. Didn't pull this one down, afraid I might like it.

I like the D’Angelico headstock but I didn’t for a long time. It grew on me.
