I've occasionally tuned one or another guitar down from standard A440. Usually, it is a refreshing experience. Adjustments in right hand playing technique, string gauge and action are minor changes.

Just to be clear; tuning outside of A440 is not the same as tuning down half a step.

Every single guitar I own is tuned down a 1/2 step.
It's easy with a good chromatic tuner.

My J-45 loves Eb. But, as mentioned it’s still tuned to 440. Gotta love that half step for some “Alice In Chains” unplugged tunes.

Just today I plugged my electric to my iPad, tuned to drop Db,and jammed some AIC. It’s been a while since I played my electric and AIC did the trick.

Nice! I’ve recorded the MTV unplugged AIC and love to play through the set they did. The only song that isn’t Eb is “Over Now”...which is C# G# C# F G# C# or something crazy like that.

Their stuff is fun to jam on.

Most of my guitars are tuned to Eb. Especially my 12-strings!

However... my mandolin, mandola, and octave mando are all tuned to A=440.

Yup, AIC was one of the primary reasons I started tuning to Eb (though I'd done it a lot during the 80s because of Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, SRV, etc). My acoustic trio plays "Down In A Hole".

I play "Rooster", "Man In The Box", "Would" and a few other AIC tunes, but on electric through a half-stack.

Love “Nutshell”. One of my favs to play. I like to start the un-plugged concert and play all the way through. Barring “Over Now” and it’s odd tuning. I learned that song but don’t want to pause and retune. I always have a blast.

My wife usually says, “again?...” and she’s not referring to the song lolol.

Congratulations! You're officially better than 85% of the people here. Apparently searching is pretty rare in these parts.

it does help with the vocals, but it raises all sorts of hell in my head when I first do it. nothing "feels" right.... My OCD kicks into hyper drive.
