Bruce, your builds are so tastefully and elegantly done. From recent experience I know that someone is in for a real treat.

I have made a several headstock over the years with negative space in them. They have in common that each time I think I went too far, yet when I see any of them unexpectedly, they look fine and even please me. I hope this one is no exception.

Gorgeous! I almost want to call it a negative volute - but it is really more than that. When the quality of the building is second-nature, and the artist is unleashed, wonderful things can happen!
I honestly think some of your best work is done when you aren’t building to strictly meet a customers punch list -

I carved the head-hole from behind to better reflect the shapes around it, and faired it into the front which already reflected the slightly different shapes there.
And I chose a piece of scrap from the head plates for the heel cap. |

A few people have wondered how the Snakewood will look under finish. Also, the color towards the center of the top is from UV exposure while it waited for me to get around to using it.

That does not disappoint.

Boy, I'll say!
Here the second coat on the head: I have processed my insecurity re the slot and am increasingly pleased with it. I have some fresh ideas about the next interation. |

I like that head quite a bit. Actually I really like everything about the looks of this guitar (except of course the cutaway- you know my feelings there). Definitely one of your best efforts as far as i am concerned.
And I will bet I will like the sound as well, once we get to that.
