Is Bryce Harper signed yet?
Well, Bryce turned down a Nationals' contract worth $300M. A few days ago it appeared almost certain that he would sign with the Phillies for more than that. Today's news is that the Dodgers may sign him for even more and that they are the front runners.
I mentioned it before but I wish sports would be able to hold a player accountable for performance - you don't perform you get less salary. The NFL is like that but a lot more stars are signing guaranteed contracts. |

Not yet, Dru. Kimbrel ain’t either.
While players and agents suggest that owners are colluding, I wonder if they are looking at the success rate of long-term high-dollar contracts. Jacoby Ellsbury, Pablo Sandival, Carl Crawford, Alex Rodriquez, etc.

Yep, largest contract value ever, although not largest yearly salary. The 13 years surprised me. I figured 10 years / $330 M. I guess he had to 'settle'. |

If the "fans" there get to be too much for him, maybe he can give Mike Schmidt a call . . .

I was more curious to see how the Phils would do with what they already had. If they do well now, it won't be surprising.

Hmmmmmm.....
They now have a fabulous power line-up.....and they better sell out season tickets or the franchise will need a bail-out. Maybe Harper can help them out there!

Now the talk is about signing Mike Trout in 1 or 2 years (whenever his contract is up). |

Hmmmmmm.....
Citizens Bank Park has a capacity of 43,651 for Phillies games. How can they sell over 100,000 season tickets(unless they sold regular game tickets ? Me thinks this is some propaganda to justify Harpers signing amount !

Yes, it's cumulative multiple game tickets...the same seat sold for 3 games is 3 tickets sold and so on for 100 thousand sold.
