Default Value of PI calculated to 31.4 Trillion Digits

Well, Pi added 9 trillion new digits to it on Pi Day (March 14, 2019). It's now calculated to 31.4 trillion digits. Took 111 days using Google's cloud service.

I feel like a fool that I only know Pi to 6 digits.

She used up an 80 roll case of Scott toilet paper to write out the calculations.

Here's to all math brains of the world! In my family, that would be my brother... not me.

But a day we should all celebrate.

My wife told me it was Pi day. Of course I got the wrong end of the stick and started thinking of steak in a rich gravy encased in puff pastry. I could eat two at a time with my ten digits.

Hey, that’s awesome!

Will this help me get to a live person at Comcast Customer Service without waiting for 10 minutes?

One of the things people are trying to find with Pi is whether it is a true irrational number that is infinite or whether one day we will find that it does repeat.

Emma Haruka Iwao - she's the woman who just accomplished this. I wanted to give her the recognition in case people here might have thought it was me.

I don't care what the mathematicians say—I still insist that pies are round.

More than that, I think. Playing dumb number games, using Google as a calculator, it seems that if that number were printed out in standard ten-characters to the inch print, on a single line, it'd be roughly 49.5 million miles long. But I might have fumbled a decimal place, one way or the other...

I just did the math and you are correct. That's nearly half the distance to the sun.
