I tried the Fred Kelly Bumblebee thumb pick. You can find it in the link above.

It is the thinnest thumb pick I've ever tried. Good product.

Another vote for the Fred Kelly Bumblebee as a thin thumb pick. I sometimes have trouble with the thumb loop catching on a string but that's user error that I need to correct with technique-not Fred's fault!

I like Black Mountain thumb picks. Their heavy picks (red Band) are 1.5mm. The medium picks (gray band) start at .7mm and taper up to 1.5mm where the spring and the band attaches.

It's amazing how much the taper kills the "click" of the thin pick.

Can you up-strum with a thumb pick? Are they also used for rhythm strumming?

You can get Herco thumb 'flat picks' that look and perform just like a regular flat pick but attach to your thumb like all thumb picks do. You can get them in light, medium, heavy and extra heavy thicknesses and they work great to strum with. I use Fred Kelley Slick Picks for finger style but I use the Hercos specifically for strumming because the way they force me to hold it in the position most people will tell you works best for holding a flat pick. And last but not least, you will never drop one.
