Another option with that neck is the Road Series

I should probably restate that I'm looking for an all-solid wood spruce/rosewood dreadnought with 1 3/4 nut, and no cutaway, no electronics.

Well, no, Eastmans are generally 1 11/16" or a rather small 1 3/4" (my E1OM is rated as 1 3/4" but is a bit shy of that - and I understand that is common for the brand).

Seagulls USED to be commonly 1.8", but they've been moving away from that nut width with only a few 1.8" models remaining in the lineup.

Someone else mentioned the Alvarez Masterworks MD60BG, but that has a hog back and sides. You should consider the Alvarez Masterworks MD70BG instead: 1 3/4" nut, solid sitka spruce top, solid east Indian rosewood back and sides, street price new around $900 shipped with soft case. Every Alvarez Masterworks I've played has been superb.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll take a look at it. Is it made in China?

According to Wikipedia: “While many of its models are produced in China, the top-tier Alvarez-Yairi instruments are handmade at the Yairi factory in Kani, Gifu-Japan, part of the legacy of Kazuo Yairi, the late master luthier. Every Alvarez guitar undergoes a full set up and inspection in their guitar shop in St. Louis, Missouri.”

Note, too, that the Alvarez Masterworks MD60BG has forward-shifted, scalloped, x-bracing (I wonder why? Because pre-war Martin bracing is the bracing to copy…).

...but the MD70BG isn't a Yairi, it's an all-solid Alvarez. Their website doesn't specify place of manufacture but I would guess it is indeed China (which, when I posted the recommendation, I didn't realize was a concern).

Of course, the OP could go for the Japanese-built Yairi... Yairi Masterworks DYM70, but the nut is only 1 23/32" (between 1 11/16" and 1 3/4"). All the other specs would be met. Price is over twice as much as that Alvarez.

I just realised why I had to learn fractions in elementary school ... so I'd later realise how silly and impractical the imperial system is ==>

I should have highlighted the lead-in: “While many of its models are produced in China…”

Thanks! Made in China isn't a concern for me anymore, especially if buying used. I got a Recording King 000 which has wonderful build and tone.

Well, I finally sold my HD-28 2006, and I have ordered a HD-28 reimagined ambertone; it's supposed to get here by next Monday. I hope it's what I need because it's probably the last guitar I'll ever buy.
