It's (PWM) what's in my Guild 12 string and it works great!

I agree. I think an EQ in the system is a very good idea. When I noodle around at home I just plug in and go. I don't use one at home.

You should have no worries.
I was researching installing a K&K in my 12 string and this ancient thread appeared. I too own a Taylor W65 and want to replace the old Expression System. 2 Questions (if you still have the W65)

1. are you still a fan of K&K installed in your W65 or have you found another pickup?

2. Did you simply shear off the Taylor strap pin and drill out the old battery compartment to accommodate the K&K transducer/strap pin?

Thanks in advance almost 10 years late!

I put a PW Standard in my duo partner's Martin D12-20 and we are both very happy with how it sounds. I suspect that the difference if you were able to install both the mini and the standard and test them, would be subtle, much like the newer high E head placement.

Before forward shifted X bracing made a come back as the mainstream placement, the larger heads could be a tight fit in some guitars which is likely the real reason the mini came to be.

I put one in my Guild 12-string. Sounds great. I use a K&K Pure preamp in the chain, or my Empress ParaEQ pedal.

I use a K&K Trinity (3 different pu’s) system in my Breedlove 12 and appreciate the the wide variety of sounds that are possible, especially since you can individually control each of the pickups right at the soundhole
