Questions after removing the electronics

I took my recently acquired J50 in to my local shop to get a setup and to remove the electronics. I just opened up the zip lock bag in which the tech put the removed stuff and I found this.



Questions:

1) Is this stuff worth anything to anyone? The J50 is 2002 if that is any indication.

2) Why is the wire on the left side, the wire from the metal strip that was under the saddle, not connected to the black/red wire on the right?

After removing, the tech installed this metal end pin. It’s nice but I want to put on the plastic Martin kind. But I believe the hole will be too large. Is there some way to get one of those Martin style pins to fit?

It was most likely necessary to disconnect the wire coming from the UST because the strip would not fit through the hole in the bridge plate.

Stewmac sells an oversized tail pin for guitars with removed tail pin jacks.

Also- keep an eye on your new string action height… I believe removal of that strip lowers the saddle height by ~ .030 “

I sold the Element pickup I removed from my J-35 for $80.

You can replace your metal endpin with this No-Jak from Stew-Mac.

Not familiar enough with Fishman systems to know why they clipped the wire, but most of the photos I see of their Thinline pickups show it that way. Some other systems have a tiny plug-in to re-attach it with.

1) Appears to be a basic Fishman system. Assuming your tech did not cut the wire too short it's worth $60-80 or so in the classifieds.

2) the "wire looking thing" is the actual pickup. It has to be clipped to get it through the hole in the bridge.

3) Looks like the tech installed a nice Larrivee or Taylor endpin. Personally, I think these are much nicer, and far more secure, than a tapered Martin style pin. If you want a Martin style pin you can get an adapter from Stewmac

Ahhh, if I thought about it more, I should've figured that. Makes sense.

The tech shimed the saddle so all good.. At some point, I might try a bone saddle/nut and will redo the saddle height at that time.

I have a bit of an annoyance with the metallic end pins because none of my straps fit over them. I posted about this before and I know there are different solutions, enlarge the strap hole, get another strap that fits, get one of those cinch things, etc. But if I can get a meaty and more graduated grooved (if you know what I mean by that) plastic pin, that's what I prefer. We'll see. Thanks for your input.
