Couple Demos comparing Lowden and Avalon.

The AS201ce is one of Avalon's Asian Silver Series guitars with laminate b&s. If it can even begin to hold a candle to that Lowden it's being compared to, I'll be very impressed!

To my eyes and ears, that video served to demonstrate how alike Lowden and Avalon guitars are, in both sound and appearance. I know several Avalon-owners and their instruments are very nice indeed. I've owned two Lowdens, I'd be very happy to own an Avalon - although the chances of that may be reducing, as Avalon Custom Lutherie Ltd. are currently subject to Insolvency Proceedings in N. Ireland.

There's another recent thread on Avalon's financial situation. They apparently have a new investor and things are being sorted out so that they can continue.

Default Av Avalon guitar seen and played on tonight's "The Resident" on Fox

This doesn't happen very often - when you see someone playing an acoustic on TV it's usually a Taylor or some such - but a character on "The Resident" tonight gave an impromptu performance playing a lovely older A-body Avalon guitar. And he was a good singer-songwriter (and Irish, I believe). Did anyone else see this episode? Does anyone know who this guy is?

Just had to share this - it was exciting to see that "A" with a hook on an acoustic headstock on TV!

I happened to see that episode and rewinded to see headstock. Performer was Colin Hay. Former lead singer for Men at Work. Does more acoustic stuff now. Believe he is from Australia

What size bridge pins do the L2-20's have? I might upgrade to bone.

Purchased my L32 back in 2011, stays in DADGAD. Feels like home whenever I pick it up, just an awesome guitar.

Got ny Avalon from Bill at the Fretted Buffalo this summer and remarkably just put her in dadgad tuning this morning (don’t know why I waited so long) and what a knock me on the floor tone! Wow - just wow!

I thought I read somewhere that Avalons are voiced for that tuning . . . Is that right? I’ve played dadgad on other brands and none even come close to the sweetness of the tuning on my Avalon.

Be cool and dig your Avalons!

Beat me to it!!! I am a big fan of Dougie Maclean and Martin Simpson, who use C tunings a lot. DADGAD is great, but my Avalon seems made for C.
