Default safe removal of volume and tone thumbwheels inside soundhole

Hi folks - have a terrific Eastman cutaway but don't care much for the undersaddle pickup and am removing it. Anyone know the best/safest way to remove volume/tone thumbweel assembly which I assume is superglued into place, i.e. glued to the top just inside the soundhole? I'd leave it and just disconnect the cables, but will likely be trying to put a soundhole pickup right there and will need the edges of the soundhole clear.

It's probably just double-sided tape. Mine (in a different guitar) came out by slowly rocking it back and forth until it let go.
