Default Recommend tuners for 000-15sm

I love the 15sm but have never been real happy with the tuners, they are difficult to adjust when close to tuned. Can anyone recommend some tuners that are a direct replacement for the stock ones and give a comment on how well they work? Thanks....

You might investigate the Gotoh line of tuners. I do not know what they have for slotted headstocks. Gotoh does appear to be the go to brand these days. Very high quality and diversity of offerings.

Stewmac has really accurate diagrams of everything they offer, so you can see exactly what drops in.

Those editions of Grovers are direct drop-ins for Waverly's though Waverly's slot-heads are silly expensive IMHO without any significant upgrade in the gear quality from the tuners you're unhappy with.

Yep. Gotoh is my first choice as well.

Just FYI

Gotoh SAP700

https://g-gotoh.com/international/product/sep700.html

I've been browsing at this pretty hard for my Taylor 322 but haven't pulled the trigger. The ones you want have the "P" in the model number. That they're 15:1 irks me but with the fatter string post diameter I'm guessing they'll function similar to 18:1.

These come with a tool to ream out the headstock hole for a bushing which would make the whole thing far more accurate than metal on wood. Might could do without doing that, I dunno.

If memory serves they're 1/3rd less than Stew-Macs offerings, but the downside is you have to order via email from Japan with extra shipping costs. But they let you have your choice of buttons, which look pretty nice.

Thanks everyone, that really helps me zero in on what I want. Much appreciated. The SM does use 3 on a plate though, so will have to look around the Gotoh site and see if they have 'em.

I have both Gotoh and Waverly. The W's are on a 6 yo Martin Custom Shop "hybrid" 000-15/17sm. Like many on AGF I give the nod to Gotoh...but have no complaints about the Waverly's. I am curious, are your tuners labeled "Martin", "Waverly" or something else?

Check out the g-jax website. They are gotoh specialists based in japan. You can also customise them in terms of tuning buttons and finish. The X finish they offer is really nice + its is self lubricating. Gotohs are very highly regarded and for good reason.
