Default Goodbye ES1. But what do I do about the endpin?

Too many posts to sort through, so this may have been addressed prior.

Suffice it to say that my ES1 (AA battery system) on my 2003 855ce has given up the ghost. I don't have $500 to plunk down on an ES2 upgrade plus two-way shipping/insurance. I want to go to a third party system, but the problem is the endpin. Since the guitar has an ES1 system with double As, there will be a not-so-nice hole to deal with. I've heard about TruPlug, but I can't find any available online (have they gone out of business? I emailed them and haven't received a response). Are there options out there for a cover that will fit that big oval hole and support a pickup jack?

Been to the site...they have a button for an eBay store, but there's nothing there. The site is also where I obtained their email address. Dead end so far.

If it's the [email protected] address, yes. If it's different than that, I'll need to wait until later today as I can't access eBay at the moment.

Yes, it is different in name. Now whether it goes to the same place or not since it goes through Ebay's mail system..... who knows.

Default Got an answer

The owner did reply. They're going to be available in a couple of weeks. I don't think I can go into it more than that. If anyone reading this needs a TruPlug, you're probably better off writing to him yourself at [email protected].

Wouldn't it make sense only to purchase the knobs for the EQ holes though? The ES already provides you with a battery slider which you then wouldn't have to put somewhere into the body.

Default "Not quite the solution he expected"

What I've done is to leave the ES1 hardware in, as is. I've decided not to wait for TruPlugs to become available. I've drilled a new endpin jack hole and installed a K&K Pure 12-string pickup, and I'll control it with an UltraSound DI Plus. Just wish I'd known before I ordered it that the DI Plus takes a 9v power supply with a Center Positive instead of a Center Negative, but I may get around that by using an XLR out for phantom power.

Still, I spent $200 instead of $500 and the guitar has been in my possession the whole time (holidays are not a good time to send guitars back to Taylor).
