Default Acoustic A20 or Kustom PA50

I have been asked to sing and play at funeral and need an amp/pa.

I need two inputs for guitar and mic and an input for my ipad.

The two choices fit my budget and look like they are well rated.

Anyone wish to give an opinion?

Rent a system from a local pro-sound rental dealer.

I was about to say don't buy either. But then I saw that the Kustom has 152 4.8 star on average reviews at Musician's Friend. For $100, not risking much.

Kustom PA50 is a good unit for $99. But, you need a speaker stand to get it high. Also, they break up with too much bass.

Sorry for your loss.

Or from GC for 80 bucks

I've got a pair of them. Decent for the money.

Funerals are in pretty quiet places so you don't need much volume. I own 2 PA50's I would suggest you buy one and place in on a chair and play.

Thanks for the replies.

Funeral is for my wife's great aunt. Passed at the age of 102!

I am playing the "regulars" of In The Garden, Amazing Grace and the Lords Prayer. If it was just those I would take the guitar and sing.

The one that threw me was White Cliffs of Dover. Never heard before last night. Cool 40's song. I found a Ray Conniff instrumental that I can sing over. That is the reason for the need of some kind of amp.

I had been wanting a new amp anyway. I will try them both at GC tonight I guess.

Sorry for your loss, 102 years old sounds like a great life achievement.....

Kustom PA50 is Great for the money. Buy one, you won't be sorry.
Very versatile for many applications, and really do sound great way beyond their price. I bought 1 and liked it enough to buy a second shortly after.
May be on sale right now makes it even better. Respond back if you get one and share your opinion.
I would agree that a Stand to get it high is great, but as mentioned put it up on a chair if needed and I will work out just fine.

I tried out one PA50 a couple of years ago and I thought it didn't have enough bass response.
Perhaps if I had tried two PA50s the bass response might have seemed better.

It will make a difference if your playing inside or outside.
Outside the PA50 might not be adaquate
If inside, placing the PA50 in a corner would probably help increase the bass response a little.

If you get your PA50 from Guitar Center, and it doesn't work well for you, I believe they have a 30 day return policy.
A couple of years ago when I tried that one PA50, GC had that 30 day return policy, I returned that PA50 within 30 days and got a full refund.

good luck in your search

I went with the Kustom PA50. Tried the Acoustic and it was a good amp, but I thought the Kustom was a better value. Still working on the mix, but I think I will be happy.

We will see Monday.

An elevated Kustom PA50 will definitely get the job done. Ric

#woodenstrings asked me to report on the Kustom PA50.

The room at the funeral home was about 30' x 40' and the little Kustom did a great job. I had pre-set the volume levels in my basement and ended up bumping up the main volume.

I used a Shure SM 48 and plugged the Art & Lutherie in directly. My Ipad was in the third input.

All in All. I am really happy with the Kustom. $80 well spent in my opinion. I would like to add a little reverb and/or chorus in the mix. The vocal were a little "plain". Of course the speaker didn't have a whole lot to work with!

Glad to hear it worked out for you. There are many systems that can offer more, but for $80 its pretty darn handy to have in the sound reinforcement arsenal.
Thanks for the update.. Enjoy..

The PowerWerks PW50/Kustom PA50 gets the job done well for those on a budgey and/or concerned about theft. Ric
