I guess I could explain, but these probably do a better job:

I'm assuming you don't have a tuner?

I understand what and how to tune to drop d. My question was what are the other strings tuned to? The high g,b, and e are not in standard tuning. At least it doesn't sound like it to me. Been trying to play it and standard tuning isn't right. Any help????? Thanks Travis

This is going to be sort of an off the cuff, flippant sort of response, since I have not analyzed what that guy in the video is doing carefully, but possibly it is DADGAD? Sort of has a bit of a DADGAD sound maybe.

"Dropped D" refers to a specific tuning: DADGBE, so your original post confused me

I'll take a listen and see if I can figure it out.

Yea, I apologize I didn't really explain myself fully. Thanks for any help you can give.

My guess is the guitar is tuned 1/2-step down, in Drop D.

Try that and let us know.

That's my initial guess based on his fingerings (though it's hard to see because there aren't many close-up shots).

Hint: Hear that note that he plays on the 6th string, 5th fret.
