Default Easter suprise - I just bought an HD-35

What in blazes did I do.

Wife says I can only have one top tier Martin.

Can't decide between my HD28 and D35 so I took advantage of PayPal/eBay's 24 mo. no interest deal (ends at midnight tonight). HD-35s gotta be my cure right? I really don't make that much money... I just love guitars and have an unhealthy addiction lol.

High sparkle and definition of a D35 and the low throat of the HD28, that's what I'm hoping for. Either way, two of em have to go but not before a comparison video!

Anyways, nervously - HNGD to me!

Can’t wait to see pics. You kinda gotta keep the Taylor or change your AGF name. Pardon the poor grammar, my attempt at sounding folksy.

When I bought my D-35 back in 1981, I funded the guitar with my bowling league money.
Yes, I quit bowling and used that money for the guitar payments.
Never looked back.

Ah yes. When I joined I had a 110e and was in the pursuit of the absolute best Taylor because at the time it was all I wanted. Halfway through the journey I discovered the joy of Martin. Can't get enough of em now. Finally settled on a 310 for the Taylor side of things and it's as "Taylor" as it gets - the perfect, "in my head what Taylor should and always has sounded like" Taylor. Not too fancy, but the flagship and bottom line for quality all-solid Taylor! I'll never sell it, it's permanent stable fodder now even though I consider it semi pro compared to these Martins. I just want one Martin that is just undoubtedly the most heavenly acoustic ever. It's insane how two similarly priced Martin dreadnoughts (possibly three? Eek) can all sound so different but so incredible.

Might be time for the OP to change his AGF username...

Sadly I sold my 1986 Martin HD-35 back when I could only afford to have more guitar at a time. It is one of the few guitars in my life that I regret selling. I got it brand new for $900 to boot! Stupid.

They are tastefully appointed, they sound fantastic, the tops move readily, lots of bass, thick trebles, great for flat picking and finger picking. Light guitars, for rosewood. The thin top bracing makes them lively.

I hope your new HD-35 is as good or better than the one I had and that you enjoy it as a lifetime friend. Never sell it!

Why do any of them have to go? Tell your wife a top tier Martin is either a 40 series guitar or an Authentic. Your HD-28 and two 35s are all standard level. Haha. Problem solved!

Congratulations, but I wonder: does your wife have a collection of things that takes up a lot of space too? Mine has easily 3 dozen pairs of shoes, a dozen purses, 6 sets of luggage, two wine refrigerators filled to capacity and a couple of full boxes of more wine bottles stored at room temperature. I have over 7 guitars and call it even. The standard is the standard.

This is the best solution.
