3M 465 is adhesive only. It is on a peel-off paper backing; there is no tape. Specs say the film thickness is 2 mils (0.002").

The problem with tape as I see it is that you have to get it absolutely perfect and just right because once you lay it down it's down forever. With glue you can move it around. I never had a problem with water based glues curling the paper but then as I mentioned I do spray nitro over the label and that might help.

Obviously there are many ways to skin this cat and all of them work well.
