It is well said but can one of you tell me the logic of putting a bigger neck on a Parlor? Maybe they are trying to copy the ones from the turn of the certury?

Why NS on a Parlor? Because that's what they've got tooling to make. Jon

And another thought... It looks to me that they fully cook the neck, remove a Teflon place holder and insert the truss rod assembly through the truss rod cover opening. It might not be possible, with that assembly procedure, to make a thin neck. Jon

Jon never thought of that, the truss rod driving the contour. First logical thought on the subject today. Thanks

(Day later). That last comment may be a little over the top! All good: love the exchange of thoughts.

But then again Emerald seems to be able to put a truss rod in any neck for any of its guitars.....

Emerald does a lot of things that no one else does.

Virtually endless. Look at emerald.com and look at the custom work. If someone can think of a way they would like to have their guitar, he can do it. He's a custom builder who also has a line of standard models.

He doesn't use pre-peg carbon fiber, fiber already treated and just needs cutting, assembly and baking--instead he begins with raw carbon cloth. What makes this extremely interesting is that he is able to add resin in such a close to optimal amount (least weight and greatest strength) that his guitars are as light as those made with pre-peg (factory treated fabric.) CA also uses raw fabric, I believe, but their guitars are much heavier.

His methods for building are different in that he is able to make new molds and models at a much faster rate than the other builders--apparently without the expensive custom steel molds others use which limits their ability to try other things easily.

His guitars are not "glued" together or assembled from parts. Somehow he manages to make the entire guitar in one process--one piece. This further increases strength.

His bridges are different than all other makers who either glue or glue and bolt on. His are built in to the material itself. They can NEVER separate from the body.

The coloring that allows the weave to be seen is something only he has done up until now. I believe CA is experimenting with this type of look. Emerald's is absolutely stunning.

I'm sure others will add other differences than I have. The other builders make great guitars also, but as far as most innovative and unique technically, it has to be Alistair of Emerald by far, IMO.

Oh, and he does all this with some of the most reasonable prices that exist in the world of carbon fiber guitars.

JD, just spent about an hour with it and it is amazing!!! As you would expect the playability is excellent but it's the tone that is blowing me away. The voice is full and warm and twice as large as the size of the guitar would suggest. If it wasn't for our annual Christmas party starting in a few hours I'm sure my fingers would be raw by bedtime. There will be several professional musicians at the party so this little guy will no doubt get a workout tonight, it will be interesting to hear what they have to say about it.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Since you've got one in-hand, perhaps you could provide some dimensional specs...?

Lower bout width = ?

Scale length = ?

Nut width = ?

Bridge E to E string spacing = ?

Body depth @ tail and neck = ?

Overall body length = ?
