I just dropped my Tele
I'm so upset. I was playing with some friends during lunch today in the parking garage at work, and after we finished I picked up my gig bag without zipping it up. My Telecaster hit the concrete! There wasn't even a scratch on it, and I knocked a pretty big chunk out of the finish. I don't even know if the neck or the electronics are screwed up.
I know this is an acoustic forum, so sorry. It's just a bad day. |

Sooo sorry to hear that. I did the same one time with a beautiful Gibson 335 I had. I bet the electronics and the neck will be fine.

Last year I watched my Nocaster do a belly-flop off of a guitar stand. No damage, except for a small paint chip. It is a 'reliced' guitar (though lightly), so that first ding didn't hurt too much. I managed to put a small scratch on my Lowden the other night and that hurt a lot more. Bryan Last edited by Bryan T; 02-27-2008 at 06:20 PM. |

Take heart, park. I'd wager your Tele is still fully functional. They are renowned for being nearly indestructable. Sorry about the chunk out of your finish. But think of it as a musical battle scar. In the long run it may be one of many your Tele wears proudly as it keeps on performing. Remember, many people pay extra for relicing. Yours is real!

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I've got a couple of chips in the finish of my Highway 1 Tele and I have no idea how they got there. Your Tele is probably OK. Those things are really rugged.

Thanks folks - I appreciate the kind words. At least it wasn't the acoustic. That would be worse. I think I'm going to go home and drink a beer.

Well now, had it been a Les Paul, it would have bounced right back... climbed into it's own case, and closed itself up nice and safe..!
Sorry to hear about the damage. |

Bummer
Don't worry, some people pay BIG money for that look. It's one plank bolted to another plank - should be fine.
I jacked up my Tele, I was trying to put in a new jack cup and decided I needed to "tap" it in with a rubber malet - knocked a chunk out or the finish of my otherwise minty Telecaster.......dumb.

Here is a thought...
Hi Bill,
I know that watching your guitar take a "nose-dive" is about as painful as it gets. I just wanted to run this past you. I know that many home owner and renter insurance policies sometimes have provisions to cover disasters like this. My renters policy covers damage and theft of my instruments after I absorb a $100.00 deductible. It might be worth looking into. Take care. |

Congrats! Got that first ding out of the way. Now you can REALLY start to enjoy it!
