Ouch!

You must atone by whipping your back with the ball ends of your strings when you change them. One lash for each chord you know.

Ouch! That goes beyond the normal "first ding" story! Sorry about your misfortune. I have a fairly pristine Strat that I dropped a socket from a socket wrench (not hard) while doing some tightening of the output jack. However, that doesn't compare to your situation.

Hopefully, the guitar can be repaired. FWIW, some of our guitar heros use some pretty battered instruments! If it is a constant source of pain for you in the future, I would look at it as your "gigging" beater guitar. You can always get another down the road as your "case baby".

Best wishes. I think we all can relate to your feelings. Enjoy your beer!

I had just bought my first PRS 10 top with all the bells and whistles. At the first gig at sound check the bass player accidently knock it off its stand off the stage and into the floor. It scratched it pretty good but the **** thing was still in tune. I got over it and still own it. I do know how you feel. Kinda makes you sick at your stomach for a while, but you'll get over it. Tele's were designed for rough treatment and bar fights!
