Took my X30 to a party yesterday for a short impromptu living room jam. The other guy played violin. Loud talking going on, no amplification and no picks.
When strummed the X30 held up fairly well - no small feat when you are up against a violin - but delicate finger picking did not cut through at all. With this in mind I have to conclude (as others did before me) that the X30's actual volume is not as loud as it appears to be at first impression. It may have a giant voice but it is a gentle giant. Edit: Almost forgot to mention... since my X30 is tuned a whole step down I often use a capo when I play with others. The G7th Performance 3, recommended by David (eatswodo) in this thread, works well with my slightly heavier strings, while the Performance 2 did not.
