I doubt they'd ask you to send it back, shipping and customer hassle not worth it.

Oh, I know, but that would be kind of like rubbing their face in it.

(It's probably the manufacturer that actually took the hit.)

Not really. Simple curiosity. Just like the whole purpose of your thread. Agree with Ty. Knowing Elderly, they would probably be "good on you. These things happen and we're glad you love your guitar". As you suggested, likely manufacturer error. At the end of the day, you have a beautiful guitar.

OK, I'll think about that!

I just sent this message to Elderly...

Dear Elderly -

First of all, I am delighted with my new Farida OT-22. Thank you for providing a very pleasant purchasing experience.

Since Elderly developed these guitars with Farida, I wanted to see if you could offer some insight. I am suspecting that my guitar may have been mislabeled by the factory as an OT-22, and is fact an OT-25 (which, of course, I am fine with!)

Like the solid-wood Faridas on your site, the guitar I received has triple-ring binding on the top and a wide rosette (two thick rings, two thin rings), and the logo on the headstock is inlaid 'pearl,' not a gold decal. Comparing the grain visible inside the soundhole to the grain on the back, it looks to me like it matches (but it's hard to say for sure), which indicates a solid back. Lastly, the fretboard and bridge are a dark reddish color with black grain, which looks more like pau ferro than acacia, based on web images I've seen of those woods.

What do you think? Did I get an unintended upgrade from the factory?

I'll follow up with their response!

Just got a reply from Elderly...

Thanks for reaching out! Basing it off the binding and headstock inlay, it's an OT-25. You lucked out! We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We hope you enjoy the guitar!

And that's also why Elderly's been in business for nearly 50 years!

Yeah they are good people. I've been doing business with them for 30 years, but just received my first guitar from them this weekend. They were excellent to deal with and I couldn't be happier.

Well the rosette and the headstock especially, were the strongest clues to me.
So you mentioned mislabeled... what label are you talking about does it say 0T-22 on the soundhole label? does it have a soundhole label? i'm just curious to if the dealer sent you the wrong guitar completely, or if it's actually a mislabeled guitar from the factory?

Beatcomer,
Glad you reached out to Elderly’s, I believe it was the right thing to do. I also believed Elderly’s would not require a return if indeed the guitar sent was an upgrade. I also believe that you feel better with this outcome. Enjoy your new guitar!

The label inside the guitar says "OT-22VBS" and the s/n on both the label and neck block match each other.

It looks to me like a data entry error at the factory.

Yes, it's reassuring to have resolution.

I don't necessarily see this as an ethical issue, but you're not wrong!
