Default I Wonder Where You Are Tonight

This is an old country tune written by Johnny Bond that has become more of a bluegrass standard. You might occasionally hear a trad country band play this one, typically very slowly, but it's mostly a medium tempo number in most bluegrass band's repetoire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKV9HoK1cE8

Nice job, Tim! It's been a while since I've heard that one! Well done!

I do appreciate your picking... not to mention overall performance. Good stuff - thanks for posting.

Thank you, Mr. Glenn. Don't tell me you were slow dancing to that one at the high school prom, lol?

I appreciate you taking a listen to my picking and singing. I really enjoy it. I have found that if you just put your own character into the flatpicking and try not to get so fancy, it usually comes out better. And sometimes you fall on your face, but that's when you really learn. Unfortunately, I hear a lot of young pickers who can play lightning fast. but they all sound alike, Tony Rice clones (and he would have hated that, I know).

My favorite young players right now are Jake Eddy, Trey Hensley, and Molly Tuttle. And I am sure there are others I just haven't heard yet.

Thanks again--Tim.

Enjoyed this one Tim. Didn't know the original but it seemed familiar from a John Hartford version. Great tune.

A bunch of people have covered this. Keith Whitley has a very good country version, and my favorite is Tony Rice's version:

You raise such a good point about the merit of developing one's own style. I recall hearing Tony speak to that specifically...

Have not heard this song in too long. Enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing -

Thanks for checking it out. This is my go-to D-G-A7 bluegrass workout song, lol.

Yeah, there are way too many copycats out there, whether it's Tony Rice, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Jerry Garcia, or whoever. That kind of stuff bores me to death honestly. And it took me decades to play and sing this badly on a consistent basis!!!
