Default Pendulum SPS-1 Question

I have an SPS-1 and was wondering if anyone has ever tries to match this preamp setup with a powered acoustic cabinet enclosure?

I'm looking for a smaller/portable setup for smaller rooms or house concerts (microphone for singing in one channel, LRBaggs in the other).

I'm leaning toward just buying the baby Fishman Acoustic amp with te SPS-1 as a Pre.

The output of the SPS-1 is +4 dBu line level (balanced). That's true for all outputs (individual channel outs, insert outs, effects loop outs and main stereo mix bus outs). For optimum signal chain integrity, any device receiving the input should be a +4 dBu line input. In addition, the SPS-1 has +23dB of headroom beyond the +4 dBu standard (balanced). For signal chain hygiene, the receiving unit should have ample headroom above the nominal +4dBu level.

The SPS-1 does not have a "DI" mic level output.

I don't know if the Fishman product can handle the SPS-1 output. IIRC, Fishman products generally operate at the consumer -10 dBV standard. It's not the end of the world. There are work arounds.

Is there such a thing, a baby fishman acoustic amp? Can you provide a link so I can see what you are referring to. Powered speakers would certainly provide the portability you want, otherwise, what about a rack mountable amplifier with the SPS-1, and passive speakers?

Default Fishman Mini

Here it is: http://www.fishman.com/products/view/loudbox-mini

The rackmont is an alternative I have done in the past. But I'm trying to have two trips to the car with a powerful, clean sound for a small to medium sized room. Believe it or not, I was at Guitar Center today just considering buying a 10" powered floor monitor and use my SPS-1 with that. I'm considering getting a soft 1 rack bag for the SPS-1.

I also tried out the Fishman Loudbox Mini. Wow! That little amp packs a punch. I may just get that to make it simple!

Sweet setup! I've got a Bose L1 Model 2 for larger venues that is very compact.

Here's the Loudbox mini: http://www.fishman.com/products/view/loudbox-mini

I played it today at a local GC and was very impressed for the price! I was fantasizing about just getting a powered 10" floor monitor to plug the SPS in to.

Here's the type of sound I'm trying to recreate: http://www.youtube.com/user/ljtowle?feature=guide

I like a clean, quiet sound for vocals and for the guitar to sparkle through in a balanced way. Just like you guys I'm sure!!

Just realized I need Phantom power across both channels. That puts me into the Fishman Ludbox Artist series: http://www.fishman.com/products/view/loudbox-artist

I played this against the Mini and it is more robust, that's for sure.

This is what I would get if I wasn't singing through the darn amp and needed two channels: http://www.humphreyamps.com/

Don't they sell a dual channel model as an upgrade? If that is the case, then go for it! Otherwise, go ahead and treat yourself to a rig like Ericsong and forget about it! Light humor there, but seriously, those Deadalus rigs are incredible, especially with the SPS-1 in the signal chain! I have a Daedalus rig myself, and don't mind toting it around.

Fishman Loudbox Mini will be just fine, IMO. Make sure you audition it before you shell out for the more expensive options...

Although if you like the furniture...:-)

Believe it or not I'm now thinking of just using my Bose Tonematch into this:

http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=1004

Under, 20 lbs, plenty loud and the Bose mixer is tiny so no rack needed!

Hi Jeff,

On occasion when I wanted to play out with something smaller than my L1M2, I've used the T1 as a pre/EQ/blender box into my Schertler David. One channel of the David for the T1 (blending dual guitar sources) and one for vocals. Works quite nicely.

Checked out your videos, nice sound. If that mic'd-in-the-studio acoustic guitar tone is what you're after, I'd suggest working a great external condenser into your live mix. You've got the phantom power, XLR inputs, EQ, and at-your-fingertips blending control in either the T1 or SPS-1 to manage it. Worst case if the venue is really fighting you, mute the mic channel.

Regarding the SPS-1: I have the single pickup preamp module, but it does not have a detachable cable. I noticed on the Pendulum website, it shows all three module types with a detachable screw on/off connection. Can anyone shed light on this?
