Ok Dan, I'm going for koa. If there was such a beast as torrefied koa, I'd say that!

I think of mahogany, walnut and koa as all giving you a broadly similar tone that will be different to the rosewoods, and probably a bari that is more manageable than one made from rosewood.

Hopefully - running a guitar business - means you get to enjoy the odd baritone passing through your shop...? As you can probably tell, I really enjoy having a baritone in the collection and am super excited about finally getting one that's built to fit me like a glove (not least as I have unusual neck/string spacing preferences).
Yup, you've missed it! It's right here on the first page haha

Baritones are quite a rare breed in this neck of the woods. But I've enjoyed most baritones I've played just for the sheer novelty of it. Many of my guitar heroes play baritones and I'm certainly hoping to own one soon

P.S. That wood looks absolutely incredible!! Walnut would have been my first guess... now I'm intrigued.

Great guesses...

...Alas, no cigars.

In case it helps, here are some higher res shots of a wetted out sister set:

... and of the actual set:

Must find a way to get better sizes of the pics! Will edit if/when I get the chance a replace with smaller ones (EDIT: Now sorted)

Looks like Myrtle to me. A very nice set, too.

Here is a great free program that we use at work to alter photos: https://www.irfanview.com/

Open a photo then click on “image” tab in top menu bar and go to “resize/resample” in the drop down menu that opens. You can preserve the aspect ratio and then set the new size as a % of the original, or play with the number of pixels. Then save as a new file and…voila!

Thanks Col - great tip. Now sorted. I'm finding that program rather quicker to use than Photoshop etc for this kind of task! (Plus it's free - so I can have it on various computers)

I'll come back to talk a bit about the ovankgol.

In the meantime, with thanks to Tom and Daisy for documenting the journey so beautifully and so extensively, let's get this thread rolling with some build pics! Here's Tom putting the back together:

More great images thanks Dan, and I like Tom's ear stud too - it reminds me of a large bridge pin!

Having a L on order myself, so following that thread coming along with great interest.

I love the wood choices and story behind the specs, thanks for taking us along to the ride!

Cheers,
Tom
