Default Chitlins Con Carne (Kopp)

Hi folks,

I think that Kenny Burrell’s Chitlins Con Carne is one of the coolest blues tunes ever - jazzy, bluesy, swampy and tasteful.
Here is my take on it - fun to play. I hope you enjoy it!

(BTW - If you like this kind of music, check out Eric Skye’s trio playing this tune on youtube - great stuff!)

Wow, Larry!

That was really nice! Just as you described it verbally -- jazzy, bluesy, swampy and tasteful. Very well done. And that guitar, with you playing it, of course, sounds wonderful, too!

Thanks Mike, I’m glad you smiled! And you’ve definitely got the chops to play well for far longer than four minutes!

Glenn, thanks so much! Kenny Burrell’s original version is so unique, with its really cool congas and sax as well as Mr. Burrell’s soulful playing. SRV did an interesting cover, and Eric Skye’s acoustic playing with his trio was an inspiration.

Regarding the guitar, I wasn’t sure if I should use the Kopp or my Santa Cruz. The SC sounded a bit more jazzy, and the Kopp a bit more bluesy. I sure appreciate your comment!
